Holiday TV & Movie Roundup
Favorites among the stuffed, the drunk and the merry.

Recently I surveyed friends and family on their favorite holiday movies and tv specials. There were a number of interesting picks that came up, some unrelated to the holidays all together.

The Muppet family earned a number of seats with Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas, A Muppet Family Christmas and Sesame Street Christmas. Classics included March of the Wooden Soldiers, It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th St, and modern classic Christmas Vacation.

Emily offered “Home Alone.” I take this opportunity to share that with you.

There are of course hundreds of TV specials that could be named, bill offered up Invader Zim’s Most Horrible Christmas Ever.

Notable among the films that have little to nothing to do with the holiday season are Jurassic Park, Die Hard and Porco Rosso.

Among my dear contributors, Sam spends his New Year subjecting himself to the Twilight Zone Marathon. Mike offers his top watches as Elf, Bad Santa, Olive the Other Reindeer, A Very Brady Christmas, The Ref, Tokyo Godfathers, Macross ep 35. I can fairly safely say that Reya would be in with me on the Psych love.

My personal top 5 is Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas, The Night They Saved Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Porco Rosso, and Island of Misfit Toys. I have a pretty extensive list of things I watch during the season that extends to the several Psych specials, Nadesico “There is no single truth,” Irresponsible Captain Tylor OVA “White Christmas,” Muppet Family Christmas, Itsudatte My Santa, and [more to be added later, if I remember].

I’ve added as many of these selections as I could to the shop:
